Jewish History in Spain is filled with contradictions. There is tragedy here, but there are also traces of former glory during the 1,000 years before the inquisition when large scale Jewish communities prospered for long periods. Scholars-in-Residence, Prof. Stephen Berk & Prof. Eliezer Papo, as well as local experts, will lead us as we delve into the past. We'll also reach out to the nascent Jewish communities of today to hear their struggles, and their successes. With the Spanish government opening the door to citizenship for Jews with Spanish roots, and the opening of new centers of Jewish culture, there has never been a better time to visit Spain. Together we will sing, celebrate and explore all that Spanish, Ladino and Sephardic cultures have to offer!
