Day 1, Thursday, December 20, 2018: DEPART USA

• Depart the United States on our overnight flight to Israel.

Day 2, Friday, December 21, 2018: THE ASCENT TO JERUSALEM

• Morning arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, with assistance by an Ayelet representative.
• Continue to Jerusalem.
• Upon arrival in Jerusalem, we stop atop Mt. Scopus to recite a special “Shehecheyanu!” blessing overlooking the City of Gold.
• Check into our hotel.
• We welcome Shabbat with the people of Jerusalem at the Western Wall.
• Shabbat dinner together this evening at our hotel.

Day 3, Saturday, December 22, 2018: SHABBAT SHALOM!

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Shabbat services this morning at Hebrew Union College.
• Shabbat lunch together at Bulghorji.
• We enjoy a walking tour of the Old City including the Jewish Quarter, Christian Quarter and Arab Quarter.
• Havdallah together.
• Free evening for dinner on own.
• Optional: Visit the First Station Compound, Jerusalem's restored Ottoman railway station turned restaurant - cafe & shopping area.

Day 4, Sunday, December 23, 2018: HOLOCAUST, REMEMBRANCE AND CONTINUITY

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we take part in a meaningful visit to Yad Vashem, Israel's national Holocaust memorial and museum, to explore the Valley of the Lost Communities and Children's Memorial.
• Hear the story of Zionism's founding father Theodore Herzl at the multimedia Herzl Museum.
• Continue to the Mt. Herzl Cemetery to discover chapters in the history of Israel at the graves of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, Theodore Herzl, Hannah Senesch & Shimon Peres.
• Explore the raucous Machane Yehuda Market, Jerusalem's outdoor marketplace, filled with foods of every variety. See the picturesque Nachalaot neighborhoods along the way.
• Later this evening we walk to the Tower of David, where we enjoy the new Sound & Light show spectacular!
• Free evening, for dinner (on own) in one of the many cafes at the Mamila Mall.

Day 5, Monday, December 24, 2018: MASADA & THE DEAD SEA

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Set out across the Judean Desert and ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod's fortress and the last outpost of Jewish independence:
• Enjoy an unsinkable swim in the healing salty waters of the Dead Sea. Enjoy time at the spa (on own).
• Lunch at the Dead Sea resort.
• Continue to Mitzpe Ramon where we check into our hotel.
• Look out over stunning Makhtesh Ramon ("Ramon Crater") from its northern rim.
• Stop at the Mitzpe Ramon Visitor's Center to learn about this amazing crater and take in the views.
• Dinner together at our hotel.

Day 6, Tuesday, December 25, 2018: THE NEGEV: NATURE, PEOPLE, & DEVELOPMENT

• Enjoy a sunrise Jeep tour through the heart of the Ramon Crater, meandering through canyons and unique geological phenomenon.
• Return to our hotel for breakfast.
• We stop at the oasis of Ein Avdat for a nature walk along the canyon bed, see the fresh water pools, the beautiful natural surroundings and tour the archeological site.
• Stop at Sde Boker where we visit the gravesite and original hut of Ben Gurion deep in the heart of the Negev Desert.
• Drive to the Negev development town of Yerucham.
• Lunch with the Kitchen Queens of Yerucham - a true gastronomic experience.
• Enjoy a tour of Yerucham with a local social activist to hear about its transformation from a downtrodden development town to a dynamic growing community.
• Return to Mitzpe Ramon.
• Dinner together this evening at our hotel.
• Later tonight, we experience star-gazing in the desert, marveling at pinpricks of light in the black night sky along with a night walk to the cliffs of the Ramon Crater.

Day 7, Wednesday, December 26, 2018: THE GALILEE

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Check out of hotel and depart for the Galilee.
• Stop to view the Roman ruins of Beit Shean and the intricate mosaic floor of the synagogue at Beit Alpha.
• Continue to our kibbutz for check in.
• Dinner together this evening at our kibbutz.

Day 8, Thursday, December 27, 2018: THE GOLAN

• Breakfast at our kibbutz.
• Morning jeep tour of the Golan Heights, passing by old Syrian bunkers along the way.
• Take in the views stretching far into Syria from atop Har Bental.
• Try your hand at chocolate making and learn from the experts in a delicious and fun experience at the Dekarina Chocolate Factory.
• Next visit the mystical city of Safed, where we view the beautiful ancient synagogues and walk through the Artists Quarter.
• Dinner together this evening at our kibbutz.

Day 9, Friday, December 28, 2018: TEL AVIV

• Breakfast at our kibbutz.
• This morning, we depart the Galilee and travel down the coast to Akko, where we explore the Crusader-era fortifications and British prison, as we learn about this historically important port.
• We continue to Caesarea, once the Roman capital of the region. See the excavations of the crusaders' city, the aqueduct and the amphitheater that has been restored as a concert venue.
• Continue to our hotel in Tel Aviv for check in.
• This evening, we gather for Shabbat services followed by Shabbat dinner together.

Day 10, Saturday, December 29, 2018: TEL AVIV AT LEISURE

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Enjoy the day at leisure - options abound, from attending Shabbat Services, to visiting Old Jaffa, strolling along the beachfront promenade, or taking in a museum, it's a wonderful chance to experience all this metropolitan Mediterranean city has to offer!

Day 11, Sunday, December 30, 2018: TEL AVIV

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Begin with a visit to Independence Hall where the establishment of the state of Israel was declared by David Ben Gurion.
• We continue to the Palmach Museum, where we “join up” with the paramilitary forces from before the foundation of the state.
• Travel to Rehovot for a guided tour of the Ayalon Institute - an underground bullet factory used by Jewish forces before the founding of the State of Israel.
• We continue to Beit Guvrin, where we participate in a hands-on archaeological dig, allowing us the opportunity to unearth remnants from Israel's ancient past.
• Farewell dinner together this evening as we recount all we have experienced together!
• Transfer to the airport for our flight back to the United States.

Day 12, Monday, December 31, 2018: DEPARTURE

• We arrive home.
