Jewish history in Greece may date back as far as the Babylonian Exile and certainly to the time of Alexander the Great. As is often the case, our people's history there is a complicated one with times of prosperity mixed with tragedy, ultimately overshadowed by the Holocaust. Our journey will be enhanced by guide Ester Azaria's knowledge and stories as we explore the past, enjoy the beauty and sites of Greece and encounter the Jewish communities of today. ABOUT YOUR LOCAL JEWISH EXPERT:
Ester Azaria is the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors and was born and raised in Thessaloniki. Her deep love and connection to her Sephardic roots and hometown has led her to curating unforgettable experiences for guests in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece with a special focus on showcasing the city's Jewish history and heritage. Ester will join our tour to impart her extensive knowledge of her home country, sharing with us her love for Judaism and sharing her background and history of Greek Jews over the centuries.
