Tour Itinerary:

Day 1, Sunday, July 10, 2016: BEGIN OUR JOURNEY
• Depart the United States on our overnight flight to Israel.

Day 2, Monday, July 11, 2016: ARRIVAL IN ISRAEL
• Afternoon arrival in Israel.
• Greeting and assistance by a Best-Day Adventures representative.
• We check into our hotel.
• Welcome dinner this evening.

Day 3, Tuesday, July 12, 2016: COASTAL REFLECTIONS
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Check out of our hotel.
• Drive north to Caesarea, once the Roman capital of the region. See the excavations of the crusaders' city, the aqueduct and the outdoor Roman Theater that has been restored as a concert venue.
• Next we stop at Akko to see the Crusader fortress & El Jazzar Mosque, Israel's largest mosque outside of Jerusalem and the largest one among the mosques built in Israel during the Turkish period. We will see Knights Hall, a massive stone building, originally conceived as a Crusader-era fortification in order to protect the walled port city from attacks by sea.
• Continue to a Druze Village, where we will enjoy dinner as we learn about this unique community.

Day 4, Wednesday, July 13, 2016: NORTHERN ADVENTURES
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin this morning at the Banais Nature Reserve where we get the chance to hike to the waterfalls using the new “hanging” trail.
• We enjoy a rafting adventure along the Jordan River.
• Re-live the decisive tank battles of the 1973 war at the Oz 77 memorial, including the chance to view the powerful documentary film at nearby Kibbutz El Rom.
• Continue to a nearby brewery for a tour and tasting.
• We visit an IDF army outpost (security permitting) and deliver snacks to the soldiers. It is a wonderful opportunity to actively show support for the members of the IDF.
• Dinner at our kibbutz
• Later tonight we enjoy a nighttime jeep safari tour of the Golan Heights.

Day 5, Thursday, July 14, 2016: THE MYSTICAL NORTH
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Check out of our hotel.
• This morning we visit the mystical city of Safed, where we view the beautiful ancient synagogues and walk through the Artists Quarter.
• Continue to Tzipori to see the mosaic known as the "Mona Lisa of the Galilee".
• Stop and pay our respects at the moving 9/11 Memorial.
• Upon arrival in Jerusalem, we stop atop the Haas Promenade to recite a special “Sh'hekiyanu” blessing as we overlook the City of Gold.
• Check into our hotel.
• Late this evening, we enjoy an underground walk through the Western Wall (Rabbinical) Tunnels.

Day 6, Friday, July 15, 2016: THE DEAD SEA BASIN
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Early morning departure to King Herod's fortresses and castle atop Masada, ascending by cable car. Visit the remains of the walls, palaces, synagogue, and the bathhouses, learning about the Jewish Zealots last stand against the Roman forces.
• Take a short hike to the hidden waterfalls in the desert oasis of Ein Gedi.
• We enjoy lunch and an unsinkable swim in the salty waters of the Dead Sea.
• Return to Jerusalem.
• This evening we visit the Western Wall to welcome Shabbat with the people of Jerusalem.
• Shabbat dinner together this evening.

Day 7, Saturday, July 16, 2016: STEPPING INTO HISTORY
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning we invite you to attend services at one of Jerusalem's many synagogues.
• Today we enjoy a walking tour through history in the Old City, exploring the Jewish Quarter, Cardo Market and Christian Quarter.
• Lunch (on own) this afternoon.
• Free time. We suggest a visit (on own) to the Israel Museum, which recently completed a $100 Million renovation. See the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls and the miniature model of Jerusalem as it was during the Second Temple period, among other fascinating exhibits.
• Late tonight, we enjoy the Tower of David Sound and Light show

Day 8, Sunday, July 17, 2016: UNDERSTANDING THE PAST
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning we visit Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the Holocaust, where we view the many moving exhibitions, including the Hall of Names and the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations.
• Visit Machane Yehuda, Jerusalem's outdoor marketplace, filled with foods of every variety. Together we'll learn about Middle Eastern spices and tasting various foods as we participate in the “Shuk Bites” tasting experience.
• We visit Ir David, the original City of David, located just outside the Old City. Here, we explore together the archeological excavations dating back to the time of King David including Hezekiah's Tunnel (bring water friendly shoes).
• For an authentic biblical desert experience, we enjoy a camel ride in the wilderness at Eretz Beresheet, also known as Genesis Land, followed by dinner in a biblical desert tent!
• Return to Jerusalem.

Day 9, Monday, July 18, 2016: FROM THE ANCIENT TO THE MODERN
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Check out of our hotel.
• This morning we travel to Beit Guvrin, where we participate in a “hands on” archaeological dig, allowing us the opportunity to unearth remnants from Israel's ancient past.
• Discover the secret underground ammunition factory that played a pivotal role in Israel's fight for Independence at the Ayalon Institute.
• Later tonight, we explore the city of Tel Aviv while participating in a special scavenger hunt through the Neve Zedek Neighborhood.

Day 10, Tuesday, July 19, 2016: VIBRANT TEL AVIV
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin with a visit to Independence Hall where the establishment of the state of Israel was declared.
• Walk along Rothschild Blvd to get a sense of the White City architecture of Tel Aviv.
• Visit the Nachalat Binyamin pedestrian mall, with its restored buildings and sidewalk artists, and then to Shenkin Street, one of Israel's most avant-garde streets followed by lunch on own.
• Option 1 - Enjoy a guided tour and workshop activity at the Israel Museum of Caricature in nearby Holon or Option 2 - enjoy time to relax on the beach in Tel Aviv.

Day 11, Wednesday, July 20, 2016: DEPARTURE
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Begin our day fulfilling the mitzvah of gleaning fruits or vegetables from the fields through Project Leket, an organization dedicated to feeding the needy in Israel. This will be a wonderful chance to give back to this country that has given us so much over these last few days.
• Stop briefly at Rabin Square on our way to the Palmach Museum, where we “join up” with the paramilitary forces from before the foundation of the state.
• Free time for last minute shopping.
• Farewell dinner together this evening at Goshen Restaurant.
• Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for our flight back to the United States.

Day 12, Thursday, July 21, 2016: LAND HOME
• We arrive home, and start planning for our next Best-Day Adventure!
