Tour Overview:
Famous for some of the most iconic attractions in the world, San Francisco ranks justly as one of the greatest cities in the world. Cable cars, a soaring golden bridge, Alcatraz, Muir Woods and a dynamic waterfront are just some of the sites we'll explore. We include 2 nights inside Yosemite National Park; a natural wonder framed by the power of glaciers, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, and the tranquility of the High Sierra. What an adventure!

Choose to add two extra nights onto your tour and experience the sweetness of the Napa Valley Wine Country. On our full-day tour from San Francisco we'll taste regional varietals at multiple wineries, including both big-name and family-run estates.

Tour Itinerary:

PRE-TOUR

Pre-Tour Day 1: Sunday, September 3, 2023: ARRIVAL INTO SAN FRANCISCO

• Arrive in San Francisco and transfer on own to our hotel to check in and meet your fellow travelers.
• Those who have arrived by early afternoon are invited to explore some of the sites and sounds of the city, perhaps to visit The Ferry Building, an old boat terminal that was revitalized into a thriving market, or pay a visit to the Cable Car Museum and learn about the inner workings and history of the cable car or enjoy the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park (additional costs may apply).
• Tonight, we “follow the leader” to dinner at a fun local establishment.

Pre-Tour Day 2: Monday, September 4, 2023: NAPA VALLEY WINE REGION

• Breakfast together at our hotel.
• We depart from our hotel this morning for our full day tour to Napa Valley. On our extraordinary day, we learn about the winemaking process during guided tours of vineyards and barrel rooms and savor the area's gourmet culture with a stop for lunch on own.
• We return back to San Francisco in the late afternoon and after some time to refresh we “follow the leader” to dinner at a fun local establishment.

Pre-Tour Day 3: Tuesday, September 5, 2023: THE PENAL SYSTEM OF “THE ROCK”

• Breakfast together at our hotel.
• This morning we stroll down to Pier 33 and delve into the criminal minds of Al Capone, Robert “The Birdman” Stroud and George “Machine Gun” Kelly on our visit to Alcatraz. Once a federal prison that held the most notorious of criminals, “The Rock” as it is commonly known, is now a national historic landmark and one of the most sought-out attractions in the San Francisco Bay area. Highlights include touring of the maximum-security facility, hearing stories from former inmates and firsthand experiences of being a prisoner, with the added fun of an extraordinary boat ride sailing past the Golden Gate Bridge to reach the craggy isle.
• We return back to the mainland after our tour and enjoy an afternoon at leisure as we begin to welcome the rest of the group for the main part of our tour.

MAIN TOUR

Main Tour Day 1: Tuesday, September 5, 2023: WELCOME TO SAN FRANCISCO!

• Arrive in San Francisco and transfer on own to our hotel to check in and meet your fellow travelers.
• As our group arrives throughout the day, get ready to explore one of the ultimate must-visit cities on anyone's travel wish list. It may measure less than 50 square miles and have a population that doesn't even crack a million, but San Francisco justly ranks as one of the greatest cities in the world. Boasting a bustling waterfront, the Golden Gate Bridge, iconic cable cars, trend-defining cuisine and boundless outdoor adventures, this city truly has it all.
• Those who have arrived by early afternoon will enjoy some of the sites and sounds as we go exploring by foot, perhaps to have a snack on the famous Pier 39, visit the famous Cartoon Museum, interact with a community of sea lions, or to board one of the legendary cable cars.
• We kick off our program late this afternoon with our welcome program and dinner at a fun local establishment.

Day 2: Wednesday, September 6, 2023: TO YOSEMITE

• Breakfast together at our hotel.
• After breakfast, we check out and head towards Yosemite National Park.
• We stop for lunch and a wine tasting at the world-famous Lucca Vineyards.
• We continue to Yosemite for a mid-afternoon arrival. After check-in, we delve into the park's majesty with a guided hike to begin exploring this natural wonderland.
• “Follow the leader” dinner together at our lodge.
• After dinner, choose to join an optional Moonlight Tour of the park, or just chill by the fireplace enjoying our remote foresty retreat.

Day 3: Thursday, September 7, 2023: IMMERSION INTO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

• Breakfast together at our hotel.
• This morning, we head out with our local guide for a full day exploring the sites of Yosemite National Park, home to soaring granite icons such as Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite Falls, and some of the world's biggest and oldest trees, the giant sequoias. Captivating interactive stories of Native American and gold rush history will complement explorations and help seal an experience we'll never forget.
• Midday, we stop for picnic style lunch with the beauty and serenity of this national treasure as our backdrop.
• We return back to our lodge later this afternoon for some down time to refresh or explore the area on our own.
• We enjoy dinner together tonight at the Tenaya Lodge.

Overnight in Yosemite (B, L, D)

Day 4: Friday, September 8, 2023: YOSEMITE TO SAN FRANCISCO

• Breakfast together at our hotel.
• Choose to wake up early and join us for our last few hours in Yosemite to further experience the power of glaciers, the persistence of life and the tranquility of the High Sierra.
• Later this morning, we check out of our hotel and depart for San Francisco. Along the way, we enjoy the views and a little bit of bus fun.
• Later this afternoon, we arrive and check into our superbly located beautiful downtown hotel.
• We depart for the deliciously famous San Francisco Food Walk in one of the most culinary diverse cities in the world.
• Early this evening we come together for a short and sweet Shabbat Kiddish, followed by drinks on the rooftop bar of our hotel.
• Later, choose to “follow the leader” into the city for some fun nightlife in one of the liveliest cities in America.

Day 5: Saturday, September 9, 2023: THE SIGHTS & SOUNDS OF SAN FRANCISCO

• Breakfast together our hotel.
• This morning, we depart for an in-depth tour of San Francisco, including Muir Woods and the giant redwoods, the stunning views and small-town charm of Sausalito along with its artists' colony adjacent to the nearby sea lions by the bay, and more!
• We stop for lunch on own in Fisherman's Wharf and then continue on with our sightseeing tour, to include Lombard Street - the Guinness book's most “crooked” street in the world, the majestic Golden Gate Bridge and much more!
• After a very full day, we return to the hotel for some much needed down time. Choose to have some time on own or to venture out for a ride on one of the iconic cable cars, if you haven't already had the chance.
• Tonight, we enjoy a special farewell dinner as we wrap up our many Best Days together in Northern California.

Day 6: Sunday, Sept 10, 2023: FAREWELL

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• Transfer to airport for flights home, arriving later today and start packing for our next Best-Day Adventure!
