Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Wednesday, August 26, 2020: DEPARTURE

• We depart the United States on our overnight flight to Israel.

Day 2: Thursday, August 27, 2020: WELCOME TO ISRAEL!

• We arrive in Israel and are met by an Ayelet Tours representative.
• We travel north along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea, the former Roman capital of the area, for a welcome ceremony.
• We continue to Haifa to check into our hotel and refresh.
• This evening, we enjoy a welcome dinner together.

Day 3: Friday, August 28, 2020: TRAVELING NORTH

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Today, we travel to Akko to visit the Crusader-era fortress and British prison as we learn about this historically important port.
• We visit a Druze village for lunch and home hospitality while learning about their unique culture and lifestyle.
• We stop at Muhraka, Elijah's cave, meaning “the place of burning”, the biblical site where the prophet Elijah fought the prophets of Baal.
• Return to Haifa, with time to refresh before the evening.
• This evening, we welcome Shabbat at Ohel Avraham, followed by Shabbat dinner with members of the community.

Day 4: Saturday, August 29, 2020: NORTHERN ADVENTURES - SHABBAT SHALOM!

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we visit Rosh Hanikra and discover the chalk cliff grottoes carved out by the Mediterranean waters over time.
• Next, we set out on an exciting jeep tour through the Golan Heights, passing former Syrian bunkers on the way to the top of Har Bental, where we take in the views of Syria and learn about the current geopolitical situation.
• We continue to the Oz 77 memorial to learn the story of the Valley of Tears and see the powerful documentary film at nearby Kibbutz El-Rom.
• We travel to the Galilee to check into our kibbutz and refresh before dinner together this evening.

Day 4: Sunday, August 30, 2020: TIKKUN OLAM & CO-EXISTENCE

• Breakfast at our kibbutz.
• This morning, we travel to the mystical city of Safed, where we wander through the cobblestone streets to view the ancient synagogues and shop in the artist's quarter. We also participate in a candle making workshop.
• We take part in tikkun olam at Project Leket, where we collect fruits and vegetables for those in need, fulfilling the mitzvah of gleaning the fields.
• This afternoon, we join Makom Bagalil, an organization dedicated to peace for all the people of the Galilee, for a session with Nir Topper. Our time together will include a meeting with leadership in a nearby Israeli-Arab village.
• We return to our kibbutz for a relaxing evening and dinner together.

Day 5: Monday, August 31, 2020: THE ROAD TO TEL AVIV

• Breakfast and check out of our kibbutz.
• We depart the Galilee and travel to the quaint European style village of Zichron Yaakov for time to explore the shops, visit the Nili Spy Museum and enjoy lunch on own.
• We continue south to Tel Aviv. Upon arrival, we tour the Rabin Center, where the spiraling exhibits lead us through the history of the modern state and broader world history through the prism of the life of one of Israel's most beloved leaders, Yitzhak Rabin.
• Later this afternoon, we check into our hotel with time to refresh before an evening at leisure and dinner on own.

Day 6: Tuesday, September 1, 2020: TOURING TEL AVIV

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we tour the cutting-edge Taglit Innovation Center for a glimpse into Israel's high-tech advances in the fields of science, medicine, security and space. We visit the interactive exhibition, followed by a meeting with one of Israel's up and coming entrepreneurs.
• Next, we follow Independence Trail for a walking tour through the Ahuzat Bayit neighborhood, where the city was originally developed.
• We continue to the Palmach Museum, where we “join up” with the paramilitary forces from Israel's pre-statehood days.
• This afternoon, we stroll along Nachalat Binyamin, where the artists and entertainers bring the streets of Tel Aviv to life.
• Enjoy the evening exploring this metropolitan city and having dinner on own. We suggest a visit to Sarona Market for a world-class dining experience with something for everyone.

Day 7: Wednesday, September 2, 2020: DIGGING INTO ISRAEL

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• We begin our day at the Ayalon Institute, where we discover the underground ammunition factory that played a pivotal role in Israel's fight for independence.
• Next, we travel to Beit Guvrin and participate in a hands-on archaeological dig, allowing us the opportunity to unearth remnants from Israel's ancient past.
• We ascend to Jerusalem, stopping at the Haas Promenade to say the Shehecheyanu as we look out over the City of Gold for the first time together.
• We check into our hotel, then enjoy an evening to explore and have dinner on own.

Day 8: Thursday, September 3, 2020: B'NAI MITZVAH & OLD CITY

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we celebrate our B'nai Mitzvah at the Southern Excavations led by Rabbi Mosbacher. Mazel tov!
• We enjoy a walking tour through the Old City, beginning in the Jewish quarter, including time to shop in the Cardo market. We continue to the Arab market (shuk), followed by a stroll along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Christian quarter.
• We head below ground for a tour of the Western Wall tunnels, where we discover the archaeological wonders that once remained untouched for centuries.
• Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure with dinner on own.

Overnight in Jerusalem

Day 9: Friday, September 4, 2020: MODERN JERUSALEM

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin our day at Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the Holocaust, where we view the many moving exhibitions, including the Hall of Names, the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations, as well as those specific to the children who perished in the Holocaust. Younger children may visit the nearby Biblical Zoo (accompanied by parents).
• At Mt. Herzl, Jerusalem's military cemetery, we pay our respects at the gravesites of Theodore Herzl, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres and hear stories about some of the less well-known heroes buried here.
• Next, we visit the famed Machane Yehuda, where we take in the sights, smells and sounds of the bustling marketplace and learn about some of Israel's delicacies during our tasting tour.
• As the sun sets, we join together for Kabbalat Shabbat at the Tachana Harishona (the First Station) with the people of Jerusalem, followed by Shabbat dinner at our hotel.

Day 10: Saturday, September 5, 2020: SHABBAT IN THE DEAD SEA BASIN

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We depart early this morning and travel south to the Dead Sea basin.
• Upon arrival, we ascend Masada by cable car to view the remains of King Herod's fortress, including the synagogue, walls and bathhouses, as we learn about the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the Roman forces.
• We descend the mountain and head to the beach for lunch and an unsinkable swim in the healing, salty waters of the Dead Sea.
• We return to Jerusalem to refresh and check out of our hotel.
• This evening, we enjoy a festive farewell dinner together, recounting all of our adventures together.
• We transfer to the airport for our overnight flight back to the United States.

Day 11: Sunday, September 6, 2020: WELCOME HOME!

• We arrive back in the United States this morning.
