Days 1 & 2: Saturday May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 2019: DEPARTURE

• We depart on our flight to New Zealand (due to traveling over the international dateline, we will take off on May 25th and land on May 27th).

Day 3: Monday, May 27, 2019: WELCOME TO NEW ZEALAND!

• Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand! We arrive early this morning and are met by an Ayelet Tours representative.
• After clearing customs, we transfer to our hotel for check in and time to refresh.
• Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to explore on your own and adjust to the time change.
• Later this evening, we enjoy a 3-course welcome dinner at Orbit Revolving Restaurant in Sky Tower with a panoramic view of the city.

Day 4: Tuesday, May 28, 2019: THE CITY OF SAILS

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin our day with a sightseeing tour of Auckland city, including Queen Street, Americas Cup Viaduct, and the Parnell shops.
• We take a short walk through the University of Auckland to Aotea Square, used for
open-air concerts, markets and public rallies. We see the statue of Jewish Mayor, Sir Dove-Myer “Robbie” Robinson, standing as the centerpiece of the square, as well as the beautiful rose garden.
• Time for lunch on own at the nearby kosher deli.
• Nearby, we take in the view atop One Tree Hill, a volcanic peak and an important place of memorial for the Maori people and other New Zealanders. We will be able to see across Auckland and its two harbors.
• Next, we visit the Auckland Botanic Gardens, for a stroll through the natural beauty in the many gardens. Explore the Edible Garden, filled with a range of native productive plants, including a variety of fruits and vegetables.
• After a fulfilling day, the evening is spent at leisure with dinner on own.

Day 5: Wednesday, May 29, 2019: TOWARDS THE RING OF FIRE

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we travel south via the lush farmlands of Waikato to Waitomo. Our guided tour of the Waitomo Caves will take us through over 250 meters of stunning underground scenery commencing with the impressive Cathedral. The highlight of our visit is an unrivalled boat trip through the spectacular Glowworm grotto. Marvel at Mother Nature's light display as we glide silently through the starry wonderland of the grotto.
• Continue to Lake Taupo in the heartland of New Zealand, with its great fresh water lake and snow-capped mountains. We stop for a chance to view the spectacular Huka Falls and the Wairakei Geothermal area.
• We drive to Wai O Tapu Geothermal Reserve, where the visitor's center is the gateway to New Zealand's most colorful natural volcanic environment. Enjoy leisure time to walk at your own pace and discover the unique features, including the world-famous champagne pool, geysers, bubbling mud, steaming ground, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters and sinter terrace formations.
• We continue to Rotorua sitting squarely on the Pacific Ring of Fire, making volcanic activity part of the city's past and present. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and refresh.
• This evening, we join together for dinner at our hotel.

Day 6: Thursday, May 30, 2019: EXPLORING ROTORUA

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we enjoy a sightseeing tour of some of Rotorua's highlights, including the lakefront area and the Government Gardens.
• Next, we visit the Buried Village of Te Wairoa for a guided tour of the archaeological site and the famous Pink and White Terraces. Here, our guide will impart stories of the 1886 Mt. Tarawera eruption.
• We continue to Rainbow Springs, a stunning kiwi wildlife park, where we get a guided, up close and personal encounter with all of New Zealand's favorite native birds and lizards, including the kiwi and tuatara. While here, we will learn about the kiwi conservation project and visit the kiwi enclosures.
• This afternoon, we travel by gondola up to Skyline Skyrides on Mt. Ngongotaha for panoramic views of Rotorua and the lake and time for lunch on own.
• Our day is completed with a 90-minute guided tour at Te Puia, including a Maori cultural performance. We also view the New Zealand Maori Arts & Crafts Institute, where masters and students share their art and their stories about the carving and weaving schools. Step into the ancient valley where geysers, mud pools and boiling waters still play after 40,000 years at Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley.
• Hangi buffet style dinner at Te Puia before we return to our hotel.

Day 7: Friday, May 31, 2019: ROTORUA TO SYDNEY

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• We travel to the Auckland Airport for our flight to Sydney, Australia, the vibrant city built around one of the world's most beautiful harbors and many sparkling beaches.
• Upon arrival in Sydney, we transfer to our hotel to check in and refresh.
• We stroll to the Sydney Opera House for a one-hour guided tour of this magnificent building. This tour offers the opportunity to experience the Sydney Opera House in its daily operation. Our guide will bring to life the stories and secrets behind the theatres and give a fascinating account of the history and architecture of this international landmark. We also enjoy a late Chefs Plate lunch at the Opera House.
• This evening, we join together for Shabbat services at Temple Emanuel, followed by Shabbat dinner with members of the community.

Day 8: Saturday, June 1, 2019: EXPLORING SYDNEY

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we drive through Sydney's city center. Along the way, we see the Victorian architecture of the Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building, then continue to Lady Macquarie's Chair for views of the harbour and the Opera House and bridge, then on to Bondi Beach. Our tour ends in the suburb of Double Bay, where we have time for lunch and sightseeing on own.
• This afternoon, we visit the Sydney Jewish Museum for a multi-sensory engagement with exhibitions, including Culture & Continuity: Journey Through Judaism, and The Holocaust, among other rotating exhibits.
• Evening at leisure to explore Sydney and enjoy dinner on own.

Day 9: Sunday, June 2, 2019: SYDNEY'S BEACHES

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we tour the Northern beaches, including a stop at the Arabanoo lookout for a superb panoramic view of the rugged headlands, then to Manly for time at leisure.
• Spend the remainder of the afternoon discovering Sydney at leisure and enjoy dinner on own this evening.

Day 10: Monday, June 3, 2019: BLUE MOUNTAINS

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Today, we depart for our full day excursion. We travel to the Featherdale Wildlife Park, where we handfeed kangaroos, see koalas, wombats, emus, dingoes (the native Australian dog), plus crocodiles, owls and more.
• We depart the park and continue on to the Blue Mountains to discover the remarkable beauty of Blue Mountains National Park. From the quaint little village of Leura, we skirt around Cliff Drive to Katoomba, where we will look out over the magnificent Jameison Valley (Australia's Grand Canyon) and the Three Sisters.
• We enjoy lunch on own at a local venue, followed by a ride on the Scenic Railway or Sceniscender down into the rainforest to enjoy a walk through the forest and see more views of the beautiful Three Sisters.
• Later this afternoon, we return to Sydney to relax and refresh.
• This evening, we join up and head out to the King Street Wharf to have dinner at one of the restaurants lining this waterside neighborhood. After dinner, find a bar to sip a cocktail or stroll along the water and enjoy the surroundings of this beautiful place on your own.

Day 11: Tuesday, June 4, 2019: DISCOVERING HOBART

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we transfer to the airport for our short flight to Hobart on the island of Tasmania.
• Upon our arrival, we check into our hotel and refresh.
• We begin our visit in Hobart with a tour of the city, including a visit to Hobart Synagogue, the oldest synagogue still in Australia, serving the Jewish community of Tasmania since 1845.
• Next, we continue to the 35-acre Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens for a leisurely self-guided tour to the variety of featured sites, including the Conservatory, Tasmanian Community Food Garden, Japanese Garden and the French Memorial Garden, among many others.
• Enjoy the evening at leisure and dinner on own this evening.

Day 12: Wednesday, June 5, 2019: PORT ARTHUR

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We spend the day at Port Arthur. Here, we learn about the history of the over 500 Australian convicts who operated the port and explore the mining ruins and relics among the surrounding area. We also enjoy included lunch together here this afternoon.
• Hike to discover the inviting sand dunes of nearby Crescent Bay or enjoy time to discover more of this lovely town on own.
• Evening at leisure and dinner on own.

Day 13: Thursday, June 6, 2019: HOBART TO CAIRNS

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we transfer to the airport for our flight to Cairns in northern Australia. Charming Cairns is the gateway to two of the world's greatest natural wonders - tropical rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef.
• Upon our arrival, we travel to our hotel to check in and refresh.
• This evening, we join together for dinner at Ochre Restaurant.

Day 14: Friday, June 7, 2019: RIDING THROUGH THE RAINFOREST

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we embark on an exciting experience at the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for a ride over Australia's pristine tropical rainforests before descending into them for the ultimate experience, including stops at Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station.
• We continue to Barron Gorge National Park, where we have a chance to take a short and easy hike, enjoy the beautiful views and visit the Baron Gorge Hydro-Power Station.
• Tonight, we head to the Cairns Night Market, one of the most popular attractions in town. Boasting 130 stalls and a full food court, this is the perfect place to eat, drink and shop at leisure.

Day 15: Saturday, June 8, 2019: THE GREAT BARRIER REEF

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we drive north along the scenic Cook's Highway, enjoying views of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We arrive at Port Douglas, where we embark on the Quicksilver Waterpiercer catamaran and journey to the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, the most spectacular undersea garden in the world. At the reef, we float atop a large platform or raft, where we can view the coral in a number of ways. There is a semi-submarine, an underwater viewing platform, an optional helicopter scenic flight or optional chance to try scuba diving. An included buffet lunch will be served during our time at the reef.
• Later this afternoon, we return to our hotel to refresh after our day's adventure.
• Spend the evening at leisure discover Cairns and enjoying dinner on own.

Day 16: Sunday, June 9, 2019: CAIRNS TO MELBOURNE

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Enjoy the morning at leisure to relax or do some last-minute exploring in Cairns.
• We transfer to the airport for our flight to Melbourne.
• Upon our arrival, we transfer to our hotel to check in.
• This afternoon, we enjoy a tour of Melbourne. We see premier examples of Melbourne's Victorian architectural splendor, including St. Paul's Cathedral, Princess and Regent Theatres, Melbourne Town Hall, Parliament House, the Treasury Building, the Royal Exhibition buildings and the Queen Victoria Markets.
• We also visit the statue of General Monash, one of Australia's most revered citizens, who was an active member of the Jewish community.
• Later this afternoon, we check into our hotel and have time to relax and refresh.
• Tonight, we join together for a delicious dinner cooked with seasonal ingredients aboard the Colonial Tramcar.

Day 17: Monday, June 10, 2019: THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Today, we set out on a scenic coastal drive along the Great Ocean Road and embark on a day full of adventures. Along the way, we see the 12 Apostles, beautiful beaches and many more attractions as we travel to Otway Harvest Trail. Enjoy included lunch and spend the day indulging on fresh, local produce, sipping a glass of wine or beer and visiting the ostrich farm or the Forrest General Store for local gifts to bring home to your friends and family. For the adventurous at heart, try the treetop walk or a zipline eco-tour through the rainforest at the nearby Otway Fly Treetop Adventures (additional cost).
• We return to Melbourne for a relaxing evening and dinner on own.

Day 18: Tuesday, June 11, 2019: JEWISH MELBOURNE

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin our day at the Jewish Museum of Australia, where we engage, learn and connect with Judaism in Australia from past to present.
• We explore the center of Jewish life in Melbourne through the Caulfield and St. Kilda neighborhoods of the city.
• This afternoon, we meet with Rabbi Kim Ettlinger for a discussion of Jewish life in Melbourne.
• Enjoy the evening to discover Melbourne and have dinner on own.

Day 19: Wednesday, June 12, 2019: DEPARTURE
