Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Wednesday, June 24, 2020: DEPARTURE

• We depart Newark this afternoon on our overnight flight to Israel.

Day 2: Thursday, June 25, 2020: WELCOME TO ISRAEL!

• We arrive early morning in Israel and are met by an Ayelet Tours representative.
• Our first stop is at Neot Kedumim for breakfast and tree planting, connecting us physically and spiritually to the land of Israel.
• We continue to Old Jaffa for a co-existence tour as a Jewish and Arab tour guide lead us side by side. We trace the different historical narratives, as we explore the possibility of creating a common future and shared society.
• Next, we tour the Ayalon Institute, where we discover the underground ammunition factory that played a pivotal role in Israel's fight for independence.
• We check into our hotel in Tel Aviv and have time to relax and refresh.
• This evening, we join together for a welcome dinner.

Day 3: Friday, June 26, 2020: TOURING TEL AVIV

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We continue to the Rabin Center, where the spiraling exhibits lead us through the modern history of the state and broader world history through the prism of the life of one of Israel's most beloved leaders, Yitzhak Rabin.
• We enjoy a walking tour in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood to hear the story of Ahuzat Bayit. We admire the artistic graffiti painted on the walls and buildings of the community and enjoy viewing this popular form of expression.
• Enjoy time strolling along Nachalat Binyamin, where the artists and entertainers bring the streets of Tel Aviv to life.
• This evening, we come together for Shabbat services at Beit Daniel followed by Shabbat dinner.

Day 4: Saturday, June 27, 2020: OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we ascend to Jerusalem and stop at the Haas Promenade to say the “Shehecheyanu” as we look out over the City of Gold for the first time together.
• We enter the Old City for a chance to visit the Arab market (shuk), followed by a stroll along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the Christian quarter.
• This afternoon, we browse the extensive, newly renovated galleries of the Israel Museum, which is world class in every way. The galleries range from pop and modern art, back through the Renaissance and Classical periods, with a strong emphasis on Jewish and Israeli archeological history. We walk through the iconic Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, and see the impressive miniature replica of Jerusalem as it was during the Second Temple period.
• We check into our hotel and enjoy dinner on our own.
• After dinner, we walk on our own to the Tower of David to watch the spectacular Sound and Light show. (Our tour guide will give us the tickets. Arrive 30 minutes prior to show time as seating is first-come, first-seated.)

Day 5: Sunday, June 28, 2020: WE REMEMBER

• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin our day at Yad LaKashish, a creative community destination supporting Jerusalem's senior residents through artistic workshop opportunities and more. We enjoy a tour of their facilities and have time to browse their shop of unique handmade gifts.
• At Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the Holocaust, we view the many moving exhibitions, including the Hall of Names and the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations.
• We continue to the famed Machane Yehuda, where we take in the sights, smells and sounds of the marketplace and try some of Israel's delicacies on a tasting tour. Choose to stay at the market for dinner on own and to see the artistic graffiti painted on the closed shutter doors.
• Tonight, we return to the Old City and go below the streets for a behind the scenes tour of the Western Wall tunnels, where we discover the archaeological wonders that once remained untouched for centuries, including some of the newest excavations.

Day 6: Monday, June 29, 2020: THE DEAD SEA BASIN

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we travel through the Judean desert to the Dead Sea basin.
• We enjoy a short hike to the hidden waterfalls in the desert oasis of Ein Gedi.
• Then we ascend by cable car to the summit of Masada to view the remains of King Herod's fortress, including the synagogue, walls and bathhouses, as we learn about the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the Roman forces.
• We descend the mountain and head to a hotel on the shore of the Dead Sea for lunch and use of a hotel's spa, for an afternoon relaxing and enjoying an unsinkable swim in its healing, salty waters.
• We travel to Kfar Hanokdim for an authentic desert experience, including a camel ride and a traditional hafla dinner.

Day 7: Tuesday, June 30, 2020: THE WESTERN COAST

• Breakfast and check-out.
• This morning, we drive north to the Mediterranean coast
to Caesarea, the former Roman capital of the area, where we view the ancient theater and the aqueduct.
• We stop in Zichron Yaakov to for wine tasting and lunch at Tishbi Winery.
• Then we drive to the top of Mt. Carmel in Haifa to take in the panoramic views overlooking the beautiful Bahai Gardens.
• We continue to Tiberias and check into our kibbutz and refresh before dinner together this evening.

Day 8: Wednesday, July 1, 2020: NORTHERN ADVENTURES

• Breakfast at our kibbutz.
• Our first stop today is at Capernaum, where Jesus taught and healed, and see the ruins of several synagogues and the octagonal Church of St. Peter. We continue to enjoy a short hike in the Banias Nature Reserve.
• This afternoon, we set out on an exciting jeep tour through the Golan Heights, passing former Syrian bunkers on the way to the top of Har Bental, where we take in the panoramic views of Syria and hear about the current geopolitical situation.
• We travel to the Druze village of Bukhata and meet with Naseeba to enjoy a traditional Druze lunch and home hospitality while learning about her unique lifestyle and culture.
• Our last stop is at Nimrod's Castle, a Crusader-era fortress atop Mt. Hermon from the 13th century. We admire the castle and take in the beautiful views of the Hula Valley and the Golan.
• This evening, we enjoy dinner together at our kibbutz.

Overnight in Tiberias

Day 9: Thursday, July 2, 2020: MYSTICAL ISRAEL

• Breakfast and check-out of our kibbutz.
• This morning, we travel to the mystical city of Safed, where we wander the winding cobblestone streets to view the ancient synagogues and shop in the artist's quarter.
• In Akko, we explore the Crusader-era fortress and British prison, followed by the colorful bazaar as we learn about this historically important port.
• We travel north to Rosh Hanikra to discover the chalk cliff grottoes carved out by the Mediterranean waters over time.
• We drive south and enjoy a farewell dinner, recalling all our experiences together, before we transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for our overnight flight back to the United States.

Day 10: Friday July 3, 2020: WELCOME HOME!

• We depart Israel early this morning and arrive back in the United States the same day.
