Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Tuesday: DEPARTURE

• We depart the United States on our overnight flight to Israel.

Day 2: Wednesday: WELCOME TO ISRAEL!

• We arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and are met by an Ayelet Tours representative.
• Transfer to our hotel to check in and refresh.
• We join together for a welcome dinner this evening.

Overnight in Jerusalem


• Breakfast at our hotel.
• We begin our day with an ascent up the Mount of Olives for a magnificent panoramic view of the City of Gold.
• We visit the Church of All Nations before we continue to Mt. Zion. There, we visit the Tomb of King David and then proceed to the Upper Room, believed to be the site of the Last Supper.
• We enter the Old City and walk through the restored Jewish quarter, including the Roman Cardo marketplace.
• Next, we walk the Stations of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. (Note, visit to the tomb inside the church may be excluded due to overwhelminf demand and excessively long lines.)
• We continue to the Arab “shuk” bustling with vendors selling their wares.
• Our last stop takes us to the Garden Tomb, considered by many to be the site of Jesus' burial and resurrection.
• Tonight, we join together for dinner.

Overnight in Jerusalem


• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Today's touring begins at Ein Kerem to see the Church of Visitation.
• We proceed to Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the Holocaust, where we view the many moving exhibitions, including the Hall of Names and the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations.
• Next, we visit the newly renovated Israel Museum to see the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, then view the miniature model of Jerusalem as it was during the Second Temple period, among other fascinating exhibits.
• We continue to Bethlehem** (security permitting) to see Shepherds' field, walk through Manger Square and visit the Church of the Nativity.
• We enjoy a relaxing evening and dinner together as the calm comes over Israel for the Sabbath.

Overnight in Jerusalem


• Breakfast at our hotel.
• This morning, we depart Jerusalem and drive south through the Judean hills to the Dead Sea basin.
• Our first stop is the Qumran caves, where we learn about the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
• We ascend Masada by cable car to view the remains of King Herod's palace and fortifications and hear the story of the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the approaching Roman armies.
• We descend the mountain and head to the beach to enjoy the mud baths and an unsinkable swim in the healing, salty waters of the Dead Sea.
• We return to Jerusalem for dinner together this evening.
*Please note Masada's cable car will be under construction in January. Participants will visit Ein Gedi.

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• Enjoy the morning at leisure to discover Jerusalem on own.
• This afternoon, we depart Jerusalem and travel to Tel Aviv to check into our hotel and refresh.
• Spend the remainder of the day at leisure, then join together for dinner this evening.

Overnight in Tel Aviv


• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• This morning, we depart Tel Aviv and drive north along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea, once the Roman capital of the region. Here, we visit the excavations of the ancient city, including the Roman theater and the aqueduct.
• We proceed to Muhraka, the site of confrontation between and Elijah and the prophets of Baal, where we enjoy the spectacular view of the Jezreel Valley and the lower Galilee.
• We continue to Meggido, identified as the site of Armageddon. Here, we learn the impressive history of this battle field as we visit the archaeological excavations, including the well-preserved water supply system.
• We travel north to Akko to visit the remarkable underground Crusder-era fortifications and walk through the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We also visit the local market and harbor.
• We continue to the Galilee to check into our kibbutz and refresh before dinner together this evening.

Overnight in the Galilee


• Breakfast at our kibbutz.
• We begin our day with a short visit to Tiberias, one of four holy cities in Judaism, and enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, taking in the beautiful scenery.
• Next, we visit the Yigal Alon museum where the “Jesus boat”, an ancient fishing boat from the 1st century, is displayed.
• We continue to Capernaum, where Jesus began his ministry and the site of numerous miracles. We see the ruins of several synagogues and the octagonal Church of St. Peter.
• Our next stop is Tabgha, site of the Church of Multiplication, where the mosaic floor depicts a basket with loaves and two fishes, symbolic reference to the miracle where Jesus was able to feed the multitudes.
• We proceed to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the “Sermon on the Mount”.
• We continue to the Banias Nature Reserve for a short hike to the Banias Springs.
• Later this afternoon, we tour the Golan Heights, passing former Syrian bunkers along the way to the top of Har Bental for panoramic views stretching far into neighboring Syria.
• We return to our kibbutz this evening for dinner together.

Overnight in the Galilee


• Breakfast and check out of our kibbutz.
• We depart the Galilee and travel to Cana to visit the Wedding Church, where Jesus performed his first miracle turning water into wine.
• Our next stop is in Nazareth to visit the Church of the Annunciation, as well as Joseph's workshop and Mary's well.
• We proceed to Yardenit, the baptismal site on the Jordan River.
• We continue to Beit Shean to view the newly excavated Roman city and amphitheater.
• Later this afternoon, we drive along the Jordan Valley to Jersualem.
• We check into our hotel upon arrival and enjoy dinner together tonight.

Overnight in Jerusalem

Day 10: Thursday: DEPARTURE

• Breakfast and check out of our hotel.
• Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the United States, arriving home later today.
