Discover the beauty of Petra's ancient Nabatean wonders!

When Jordan and Israel signed a peacy treaty in 1994, a whole new world of travel possibilities opened up to visitors to the Middle East.  Whether you come along on one of our regular Israel tours or just want to have the benefit of an experienced guide for a quick trip into Jordan, Ayelet Tours can accommodate.  We run a regular itinerary of Jordan tours throughout the year that bring the wonders and beauty of this country to life for our guests.

This Jordan Extension Includes:

1 Night in Amman

Rates Include the Following Services:

2 nights accommodation with breakfast daily at hotel

Jordan Visa -  including processing. Ayelet Tours will coordinate the visa - passport information must be accurate and submitted no later than 14 days prior to arrival

Tour Itinerary:


Sunday departure from Tel Aviv/Jerusalem

Day 1: Sunday:

• Pick-up at our hotel in either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem and drive to the Israel/Jordanian border at the Allenby/Sheik Husssein Bridge to enter Jordan.
• Proceed to Jerash, city of the Decapolis, located about 45 kilometers north of Amman, in the fertile heights of the Gilad. We visit the ancient Roman city with its colonnades and baths.
• Drive to Amman for a city tour of the Jordanian capital.

Overnight Amman.

Day 2: Monday:

• After an early breakfast, we depart the hotel and drive south to Wadi Musa, the modern village of Petra.
• We travel through the "Siq" (canyon) (horseback ride optional), before traveling by foot to Petra, known as "Sela Edom" or Red Rock City, the ancient capital of the Nabateans from the 3rd Century BCE through the 2nd Century AD. Visit the most interesting monuments, the Treasury, El Khazneh (tomb of a Nabatean king), the field of tombs and Al Madhbah (the altar) where we can view the entire city.
• Return to Wadi Musa village.

Overnight Petra.

Day 3: Tuesday:

• After breakfast, we drive to Madaba to see the ancient mosaic map of the Holy Land and ruins of historical sites.
• Continue to Mt. Nebo, where Moses stood to view the Promised Land. From there we too see the Jordan Valley, Jericho, the Dead Sea, and more.
• Visit the remains of a Byzantine church with a mosaic floor, and then drive to the Israel border and return to our hotel in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.

NOTE: Travelers to Petra must provide accurate passport information to allow Ayelet Tours to secure your Jordanian visa a minimum of 14 days in advance of travel. In addition, travelers must carry a valid passport and $65 per person in US currency for border taxes on the day of the Petra tour. Credit cards and travelers checks are not accepted at border crossing. Rates subject to change without notice.

Please note:
If you depart from Israel during your visit (for example to go to Jordan or Egypt even for one day) VAT refund must be requested from customs at your departure land border at the time you depart. VAT at Ben Gurion Airport will only process the refund for any goods purchased since last date of entry into Israel.
